  4. This programm will help you to manage all your files. It reads from any media 
  5. supported by OS/2. You can enter type, group and comments for every disk and 
  6. file. Searching for files or descriptions is possible with wildcards. 
  7.  
  8. Help is available any time you press the F1 key from anywhere within the 
  9. program.  Because this is context sensitive help, the help information that is 
  10. displayed depends on where in the program F1 was selected. 
  11.  
  12. For instance, you receive help for the Save Button on the Toolbar when you 
  13. highlight Save and press F1. 
  14.  
  15. Press Esc at any time to view the previous help window or to return to the main 
  16. Help window if there are no other help windows. 
  17.  
  18. There is Help available for the OS2CAT- Main Window.

  53. The disk window is the main program window. All activities are started from 
  54. here. 
  55.  
  56. This window can be divided into three parts. 
  57.  
  58. o Tool-Bar 
  59. o Disk-Container 
  60. o Status-Bar

  63. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3.1. Disk-Container ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  65. The big object in the middle of the disk-window is the disk-container. In this 
  66. Container the cataloged disks are shown with Title, Description, Volume, Type, 
  67. Group, Date, Size, and count of files. 
  68.  
  69. The Title is used as key, so remember that you can not save two disks with the 
  70. same title (though multiple volume entries are possible). 
  71.  
  72. There is a popup-menu available for the disk-container. So if you click the 
  73. second mouse-button you will get functions to sort the disks, to change the 
  74. view, or to edit the entries. If you doubleclick on one disk the file-window 
  75. with all files found on this disk will be shown. 
  76.  
  77. You can change the Title, Volume, Description, Type and Group of disks using 
  78. the mouse. Place the mouse cursor on the field that you want to change, hold 
  79. the [ALT]-Key and click the first mouse button. A small Edit-Field will appear 
  80. where you can change the contents. Clicking with any mousebutton on another 
  81. place will close this editfield and save your changes.

  83. There is another possibility to change all disk-information: see Change 
  84. Disk-Info

  86. You can tag one entry in this disk-container by clicking with first 
  87. mouse-button on the required disk. If you need multiple selected disks for 
  88. deleting or printing, you can hold [Ctrl]-Button and click at all disks you 
  89. need. Also you can drag your mouse over all wanted disks while holding the 
  90. first mouse-button down.

  95. The Toolbar allows you to start functions with only one mouseclick. All 
  96. functions from the Toolbar are also available from the main Menu , and many of

  115. The Status-Bar is always visible on the bottom of the disk-window. It gives you 
  116. statistic information about your catalog.

  118. On the left side in the first line you can see the count of catalogued, visible 
  119. and tagged disks. The second line shows the free disk-space on your disks. On 
  120. the right side there are equivalents for file-count and used disk-space.

  122. The Status-Bar is updated every time you change the selection of disks.

  127. The main-menu allows to call some additional functions not available from the 
  128. Toolbar. To the access menu, press [ALT]-and underlined key. On the right side 
  129. of the menu there are Shortcuts for this functions. Using this keys you can 
  130. start this action directly from everywhere in OS2CAT.

  135. From this submenu you can create new catalogs, load existing and save catalogs. 
  136. Import and Export to other files and printing is possible too.

  141. By selecting New you can create a new catalog. The Program will ask you to save 
  142. the old one if you changed it. This function is also executed every time you 
  143. select Open. It performs deletion of all disks from the disk-catalog. Then the 
  144. list of Types and Groups are deleted, so you can start to load new disks.

  149. Here you can open existing catalog-files. The standard OS2-Open-File-Dialog 
  150. will be shown, where you can select a file. OS2CAT always looks for *.cat 
  151. files, but you can change the extension if you like.

  156. This lets you save the catalog you are editing. If the file name is [noname] 
  157. then you will be asked to enter a filename. While loading the catalog-file the

  159. disk-container.

  161. To change the name of the catalog you can start Save As ...

  167. select a directory and enter a file name. A file will be created with the 
  168. selected name and the edited catalog will be saved in this file.

  173. There are many File-Formats having information about files (DESCRIPT.ION, 
  174. FILES.BBS, etc.). With this function you can import descriptions from this 
  175. files to OS2CAT.

  177. OS2CAT scans the file for filenames existing in the catalog. If there are files 
  178. in the catalog without a description, then the file-description is added to the 
  179. catalog.

  184. Here you can save your catalog in another format. All tagged disks will be

  544. or using [SPACE]. Using [CANCEL] the delete-process will be aborted.

  549. With OS2CAT it is possible to use all available printers. In this dialog you 
  550. can select the printer-queue where the output will be sent to.

  553. [Settings]-Button.
